Occasionally at FlyKly we come across small articles that really resonate with us.

A recent article from Grist, an esteemed independent green news source, highlights how big urban changes are happening at the local, neighborhood level.

“While cities have been leaders in the effort to combat climate change, much of the action within cities occurs at the neighborhood level. “The neighborhood is a geography, a scale that resonates with people,” says Rob Bennett, executive director of the nonprofit Portland Sustainability Institute. “Neighborhoods have always been a powerful and important part of how we view city-building, and how we view ourselves as citizens.”

The Robert-Moses era of massive, top down planning seems to have come to end.

At FlyKly we believe in creating small, local changes that create disproportionately large, global effects.
Do FlyKly bikes do this?  Absolutely.
When you choose to ride FlyKly, you are choosing to travel in a way that is beautiful, quiet and clean.  This may seem like a small choice, but the effects add up.  You’re helping the air be a little cleaner, the streets to be a little more peaceful.

There’s a lot of reasons FlyKly stands apart from the crowd.

We’ve got incredible customer service and a dedication to constant evolution and improvement.  We’re working hard to help connect people and change the way people interact with their cities.  As a company, we are trying to allow urban dwellers to ‘go green’ without sacrificing style or quality.

All of these goals are noble and important, but they are all based around one thing: our FlyKly.  Similarly, every FlyKly is built around a crucial piece of technology that separates it from the pack.  That ‘crucial piece’ is the most advanced battery technology on the market.

Lithium-Ion batteries power every single one of our bikes and they allow for some amazing feats.  FlyKly batteries grant users 1,000 miles for $1 of electricity.  Every battery comes with 32,000 riding miles built in.  For most users that’s about 5 years of regular usage.  It doesn’t end there though.  Lithium-Ion is ultra-light.  Our removable batteries weigh about fifteen pounds and can be plugged into any standard 110V wall outlet–just like your laptop or cell phone.  Finally, lithium-ion batteries are some of the cleanest tech on the planet.  This is not only because they allow for electrically-powered, zero emissions transit.  Lithium is incredibly light however, and produces some of the most energy per pound of all battery materials.  This means that a little goes a long way–reducing the need for excessive mining.

As Lithium-Ion technology improves exponentially we’ll be right there with it.
