FLYKLY SO FREAKING COOL

“Motorcycles are cool and all, but getting the necessary paperwork to own one is more painful than a stack of rusty nail nachos. Ditch those day-ruiners at the DMV and cruise the streets with a FlyKly electric bike ($1,990). Every FlyKly is federally classified as a bicycle, so despite the motor, there’s no need for a license. The lithium-ion battery is super clean, ready for charging in any standard wall outlet, and it gets you 40-miles per charge. If the sub-20 mph top speed is too slow for you, just remember the top speed on the DMV line: 7 iph (inches per hour). Zing!”

FlyKly Lands Engadget

FlyKly was honored with a mention in the Engadget weekly ‘Week in Green’ feature (curated by Inhabitat):
“FlyKly’s ultra-modern electric bikes have become a choice ride in New York City”

FlyKly on Inhabitat

”Armed with the hottest lithium ion battery on the market, the FlyKly bike is the cleanest, quietest, and most efficient electric two-wheeler on the streets. Though the battery provides big power, its design is small and compact, allowing the user to remove it from the bike and plug it into any wall outlet like a cell phone or laptop. Fully charged in only 4 hours, the bike can ride for nearly 40 miles and can be recharged up to 1,000 times. FlyKly also includes functional bicycle pedals that riders can use to help recharge the battery while on the go!”

FlyKly is GOOD

“Niko Klansek, the CEO of e-bike startup FlyKly, says he tried contacting city and state officials about the legal tangle but received no response. His customers sometimes are hassled by police but report back that the tickets they’ve received (for riding an unregistered vehicle, for instance) are generally dismissed in court. And he found that other e-bike sellers weren’t interested in making a fuss and calling attention to the legalities of using their products. But the current situation is not sustainable, he says. “I would like that they do something about it,” Klansek says. “Not that they leave it hanging and nobody knows” what the law is.”

Vice takes FlyKly for a Spin

Me and My FlyKly, article from Vice Mag

“I rode it home from the office, and in the mile or so I spent with this electric scooter I felt a surge of immeasurable joy—like the world had been opened for me to explore. I felt the kind of feelings for the scooter that you normally reserve for your children or the penguin exhibit at the zoo, when you stand there for hours watching those aquabirds eat fish and swim and occasionally let out loud honking wails. ”

Vice to the bone.  Check out the full article, here.

FlyKly Makes GearCulture

Flykly Electric Bike in Gearculture

“The FlyKly Vintage Electric Bike ($1,900) is what lies between an pedal-powered bike and a gas-powered motor-scooter. It sports a 100% electric lithium-ion battery that gets around 40 miles per charge and 1,000 miles for $1. Owning a FlyKly Vintage is like having a Vespa without having to dish out cash for petrol. But unlike a Vespa, you can easily park the FlyKly chained to a fence post, bike racks or motorized clown, thanks to a steering column and rear wheels that lock when parked.”

Outstanding work as usual from the nice guys at GearCulture.  Check out the full article here.

Tech Cocktail Takes FlyKly for a Spin

FlyKly New York Electric Bicycle in Tech Cocktail

“Since it is technically a bicycle, not a scooter, it offers pedals to encourage you to burn some calories while you travel, or alternatively, power the ride if you run out of juice. That said, the pedals seem to be positioned at a slightly inconvenient spot to pedal comfortably. So it appears that the FlyKly is really a scooter that does not have to adhere to scooter laws thanks to its bike pedals – it’s an electric bike not a scooter. Brilliant!”
